Christmas is coming, and New Year’s Eve is almost here. December gives you great opportunities to drive sales and engage with your customers.
According to a recent study almost half of the shoppers answered that social media affects their holiday shopping process. Very good news for you!
So here are 12 tips for your holiday marketing.
#1: Launch Promotional Campaigns With Holiday Themes
Giving is a great feeling, but if you give to your fans and customers is also an investment. Take advantage of the opportunity, and get more leads, subscribers and potential customers with lead-gen promotion campaigns.
- Run a sweepstakes – give away a grand prize in your quiz or draw. People will spread the word because they want to win even more in the festive period!
- Offer a deal and drive sales – coupons, group offers are great way of driving sales.

#2: Holiday Theme Cover Photo
Walmart have found a very easy and cost-efficient way to update their cover photo: they showcase their customers in holiday context. You may do the same, you just need to ask your fans to post pictures to your timeline because you want put together a new cover image.
#3: Holiday-ify Your Product Or Service
Whatever your business is about you may show it in a holiday environment. This helps people to connect your business to the holidays.
- If you sell a food product, then put it to a nicely set table, and take a picture with your camera or phone. You don’t even need a pro camera, only some nice Instagram filters. Pictures will be quirky and hip.
- You sell something that would make a perfect gift? It’s very easy to take a picture of somebody giving that to a friend.
- Whatever you sell, put it on the Christmas tree as Marmite did. Photoshop skills are needed for this one!
If you sell small and shiny things it would even go as a Christmas tree ornament!
#4: Post Tutorials And Holiday Related How-Tos
Help your customers to connect your brand to the holidays. Give some hints and tips about cooking, decorating the house or how to make an advent calendar.
- You sell cupcakes? Share some baking tips, as everybody will need it. You are afraid that you give away your secrets so people will know how to bake the best cupcakes ever and they will not need you any more? Believe me it will not happen. People don’t have your tools, ingredients, expertise, and they are always out of time.
- If you sell soap materials, then make a tutorial about how to make soaps at home (that would make a perfect gift) – and make sure to tell people that they may find the raw materials in your shop.
- You are a hairdresser? Then publish a tutorial about how to make a nice holiday hairdo.

#5: Introduce Co-workers
Post pictures about co-workers so your customers may get to know the faces behind the scenes. You may ask them about anything that is connected to your business, customers and the holidays. It’s a nice time to start your corporate Instagram account or Tumblr blog.

#6: Engaging Facebook Posts
What is your favorite Christmas song? What’s your best childhood memory about Christmas? Adjust your posts to the holidays, the rules simple. Tell people what they should do. As Brian Carter suggests:
- To get likes, say “Click like if…” and keep the second part simple.
- To get comments, ask a question or say, “Tell me in the comments below…” followed by whatever you want to know.
- To get clicks to your website or blog post, put the URL in the update and say, “Click this link…” and tell them why.
Look at this image below with the text of “Share this image”. You may not believe that this will work, but if you tell people what to do on Facebook while reading your post (e.g. share, like, comment), then they more likely to do that.

#7: Advertise Your Posts
Recently Facebook made some changes in the viral reach of page posts. The interwebs were loud of this at the beginning of October, however, Facebook never admitted that, and there is no definitive statement one way or the other.
My friend likes Cartier, so Facebook shows me a sponsored post of Cartier. These sponsored posts are usually at the top of the News Feed.
